Donna P JulianDonna P. Julian is the Senior Vice President, Arena & Event Operations and General Manager, Hornets Sports & Entertainment, since joining the organization on February 1, 2005. Mrs. Julian serves as a member of the HSE Senior Executive Team and is responsible for leading all aspects of the day-to-day operations of Time Warner Cable Arena, while also developing and directing the implementation of arena and event operations policies and procedures. She currently manages event administration, guest services, event staffing, public safety, operations and administration.

Ms. Julian directs and manages the preparation, production and execution of arena event (operational, expenditures and capital budgets). In addition, she initiates the development of goals and objectives for guest services, contracts for event marketing partnership (AEG), back-of-the-house operations, Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) as well as services administered by City of Charlotte, including local law enforcement, medical, public safety and Alcohol Law Enforcement Management.

Ms. Julian provides direction for the Arena’s Public Safety Operations, which includes Emergency Evacuation Plan, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance and event Liability programs. She serves as the primary contact for all aspects of arena operational partner relationships including arena concessionaire, merchandising and event medical services. She is the NBA’s facility contact to ensure that all arena operational requirements are administered and implemented.

Prior to joining Hornets Sports & Entertainment, she spent 15 years as General Manager of The Baltimore Arena, later becoming 1st Mariner Arena, and now Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland where she managed nearly 140 events annually; including family shows, sporting events, conventions and marquee concerts. Under Julian’s supervision, the arena increased its arena bookings and revenues.

Ms. Julian launched her career with Centre Management, the operating company for the Capital Centre later named the USAir Arena, in Landover, MD. She assumed management of the arena after serving in a number of roles in sales, marketing and event administration.

Ms. Julian is a member of IAVM (International Association of Venue Managers). She is a graduate, previous member and former teacher of the Board of Regents of the Oglebay School for Public Assembly Facility Management. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors’ Association (BACVA) from 1995 -2004. In 2002, Mrs. Julian received the prestigious Baltimore Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40 Award, honoring her outstanding achievements as a leading Baltimore Executive. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Women Executives of Charlotte, Good Friends organization, and recently completed her service on the Board of Directors of the Charlotte Children’s Theatre.

Ms. Julian received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Athletics Administration from Ohio University, a member of the Mid-America Conference, located in Athens, Ohio in 1985. She was recruited by Ohio University with a tennis scholarship, where she was a four-year letter winner and co-captain of the team as a senior. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Julian lived in Maryland from 1973 until her relocation to Charlotte, North Carolina in December 2004. She currently lives in Matthews, North Carolina with her husband, David, and her two sons, Griffin, 18 and Donovan, 15. Ms. Julian was honored recently by Charlotte Business Journal’s 2016 Women In Business Award.
