Kilby WatsonKilby Watson joined Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont (Goodwill) in June of 2011.  During her first year Watson spearheaded the development of a robust volunteer program for the agency, naming it "Champions for Good."  The program includes occasions for volunteers and interns to network socially, receive professional development training and opportunities for recognition.  Watson was promoted to Community Engagement Manager in January of 2013 and has continues to lead the volunteer program at Goodwill. In addition, she leads community engagement efforts through various public speaking engagements, serves on the agency's Business Opportunity Team, provides tours at Goodwill's corporate headquarters, and leads advocacy efforts for the agency among other things.

Prior to her work at Goodwill, Watson brought more than 10 years of project management and communications experience to the team of Vandever Batten, a consulting firm working to assist nonprofits. She skillfully researched trends and implemented strategies to successfully enhance current office systems and communication efforts at the firm. While working at the firm she taught an Organizational Communication course for the undergraduate students at Queens University of Charlotte and Public Speaking courses at Central Piedmont Community College.

Watson has been involved in education around the US since 1996 serving seven years as a high school teacher and five years as a staff member on the collegiate level. She served as a member of Queens University of Charlotte’s Diversity Council, Staff Council, Chair of the Staff Communication's Committee, and Staff Liaison for the Office of Multicultural Affairs Peer Mentor Program.

She continues to serve the Charlotte community as a member of the Women's Inter-Cultural Exchange and mentor.
